Captain Andres Maria Diaz Diaz
Commandant from November 21, 1934 to March 2, 1935
Gacheta, Cundinamarca, November 9, 1901. With the objective to become on a Military Pilot enter to the Cadets Military School, where graduate as Second Lieutenant on December 1923.
On the rank of Lieutenant enter to the Aviation Military School in Madrid, where obtain the title of a military pilot on 1929. Was one of the most outstanding pilot on the Colombian military pilot, makes part of the squadron did the flight to the Quinta San Pedro Alejandrino, in Santa Martha, during the celebration of the 100 years of the death of the Liberator.
In company with Camilo Daza and Luis F Gomez Niño the first flight between Bogota and Cucuta. Outstanding member of the south air squadron during the war with Peru, he had to transport until Palanquero on a Douglas O-38P aircrafts confiscated to the Peruvian forces during the conflict.
Was pilots’ chief of the Palanquero base and in 1934 named as commandant of this base, this year received the position of Military Aviation Department on the War Ministry.
Die on Palanquero on March 2, 1935 on a Hawk No 807 aircraft when was practicing combat maneuvers in lieu with other aircraft pilot by his friend the Second Lieutenant German Olano.
