The Colombian Air Force, “Crossing the border lines”

The Colombian Air Force with the creation of the National Center for the Personnel Recovering, located in Catam, has straighten the capacity to leader the air special operations inside and outside of our country, with the only purpose to save the lives: this is how, it has been present in critic missions, among them, we have help our compatriots affected by the tsunami in Japan, the earthquake in Haiti, Chile, Costa Rica, among others.
We have participate in the rescue of more than 1300 persons that suffer the force of the natural disasters in the last three years in different places of the world, showing that the international humanitarian support is the reflect of the professionalism of the men and women from the Force, trained with the best technology.
The humanitarian aid offer in Japan after the earthquake and the tsunami that took place last March, in which Colombia solidarism with the collection and air transport of 25 thousand pounds, among food and goods for our compatriots living in Japan. The Boeing 767 ‘Jupiter’, with two crews from the Air Force which bring back home 135 Colombians, 24 Chileans and one Bolivian; onboard of a hope flight, full of solidarity and with the best medical team onboard, to give a secure return to home. A second flight was done to Venezuela with the Boeing 707 ‘Zeus’, with the purpose to repatriate other 114 Colombians.
We continue crossing borders on March 2010, when we help our brother country Chile, after the earthquake of 8.8 Richter at ends of February. Our solidarity was present with the transport of 103.6 tons on humanitarian aid and 7878 passengers transported onboard of the Boeing 707 ‘Zeus’ and Hercules C-130, with 4 crews who were at service of the Chileans during one week, time during which the military team dogs – guide, experts in search and rescue participated looking for the disappear.
But was not only Chile the country that suffer the consequences of the natural disasters, how we can forget the terrible earthquake in Haiti, that destroyed almost all the city of Puerto Principe on January 2010, the Colombian Air Force again was present with its airplanes that transported 199.20 tons on humanitarian aid and the best medical and rescue teams, who gave a great aid and were the hope for thousands of Haitians.
Also in Costa Rica was received our aid, on November 2010, during the floods that affect most of this country after the cross of the tropical storm Thomas. The Colombian Air Force was present with the medical helicopters Black Hawk MH60 ‘Angel’ and the Bell 212, with which after long working days could save the life of 441 persons and transport 30 tons on food and medicines.
In 2009 again in Costa Rica we were present with our presence after the 6.2 earthquake that affect most of the country, the Colombian Air Force sends one helicopter ‘Angel I’ that saved 100 lives.
During the last three years involve with international humanitarian aid, the Colombian Air Force have saved more than 1300 persons and transported more than 250.000 tons on humanitarian aid, which is an important sample of our work in Social Responsibility, motivation and pride for us to be present and help all the ones who need of our aid.
